JNEB’s Best Article and GEM

The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB) announces the 2020 Best Article and Best Great Educational Material (GEM) awards which will presented at the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior’s (SNEB) 53rd annual conference, “What Food Future?” held virtually July 20 – 24. These annual awards recognize the authors of the best article and best GEM, published in the prior year in JNEB, as judged by members of the JNEB Journal Committee and Board of Editors. All authors will receive a plaque, and the lead authors will receive a monetary award.

The Best Article Award will be presented to Morgan L. McCloskey, MSPH, Susan L. Johnson, PhD, Traci A. Bekelman, PhD, MPH, Corby K. Martin, PhD, Laura L. Bellows, PhD, MPH, RDN for their article “Beyond Nutrient Intake: Use of Digital Food Photography Methodology to Examine Family Dinnertime” published in the May 2019 issue of JNEB. The best article was selected from 106 published articles, briefs, and reports. The Best Article Award will be presented July 20 in conjunction with the virtual conference.

The Best GEM award will be presented to authors Mateja R. Savoie-Roskos, PhD, MPH, RD, Casey Coombs, MS, RD, Jaqueline Neid-Avila, MDA, RD, Jeffrey Chipman, Sara Nelson, BS, Leslie Rowley, BS, Heidi LeBlanc, MS for their paper “GEM NO. 583: “Create Better Health: A Practical Approach to Improving Cooking Skills and Food Security”,” published in the January 2019 issue of JNEB. The Best GEM award will be presented July 20 in conjunction with the virtual conference. GEMs are resources developed to educate on certain topics or distribute programs to help in the nutrition education field. The best GEM was selected from 10 published GEMs.
