What is SNEB?
The Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) represents the unique professional interests of nutrition educators in the United States and worldwide. SNEB is dedicated to promoting effective nutrition education and communication to support and improve healthful behaviors and has a vision of healthy communities through nutrition education and advocacy. SNEB provides forums for sharing innovative strategies for nutrition education, expressing a range of views on important issues, and disseminating research findings. Members of SNEB educate individuals, families, fellow professionals, and students, and influence policy makers about nutrition, food, and health.
Who Belongs to SNEB?
SNEB is an international community of professionals actively involved in nutrition education and health promotion. Their work takes place in colleges and universities, government agencies, cooperative extension, communications and public relations firms, the food industry, voluntary and service organizations and with other reliable places of nutrition and health education information.

Public Policy Updates
The primary purpose of SNEB's Public Policy Program is to make recommendations on member identified priority public policy issues (e.g., Child Nutrition Reauthorization, School Nutrition, and Improved Nutrition and Physical Activity) to Congress, the White House and government agencies. Members receive a weekly policy update email.

The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB): JNEB is the official publication of the Society. Issued bimonthly, this peer-reviewed scientific periodical offers cutting-edge research articles and reports, contrasting viewpoints on hot topics, creative program ideas, and professional reviews of recently released materials for nutrition educators. A subscription to theJournal is included with SNEB membership and is available via hardcopy or online. The online version includes a sophisticated search engine that makes it easy to locate and archive articles of interest, and to circulate abstracts to colleagues. The Journal is also indexed in MedLine, PsychINFO and other major databases.
SNEB eCommunicator: SNEB's online newsletter covers new hot topics in nutrition education and public policy issues, while keeping you abreast of SNEB activities.

SNEB Annual Conference: Network each year during the SNEB Annual Conference and receive discounted member registration rates. The SNEB Annual Conference is an excellent event for nutrition educators and researchers and offers access to the latest developments in food, nutrition, and education. The SNEB Annual Conference provides a forum for discussion and debate of diverse issues and interests and is becoming increasingly global in scope. The meeting, which is generally held in July, provides attendees with new research, creative ideas, and practical techniques applicable in many settings. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the SNEB Annual Conference while earning continuing education credits and advancing your knowledge and skills. SNEB Annual Conference is typically approved for 30 CEUs.
SNEB Webinars: Webinars are becoming an increasely popular way for members to obtain continuing education credits without ever leaving their office. These events are typically free for members and are offered on a variety of topics. You can earn more than 20 CEUs during the course of the year

SNEEZE is the official listserv of SNEB. This online forum allows members and the SNEB leadership to share information on SNEB and nutrition topics. It is popular among members as a way to keep abreast of what nutrition professionals and public policy leaders are thinking, get answers to research and other work related questions, find resources, network with other nutrition professionals, obtain information about job opportunities, receive public policy updates, and feel connected to the SNEB membership.
Student Member Facebook page: Join in the conversation on a page devoted specifically to SNEB student interests.
Divisions represent the special, focused interests of members and provide critical networking and educational opportunities for members. The specialized knowledge and opportunities can be seen in action through education sessions at the Annual Conference as well as throughout the year via SNEB's webinar program. All members receive one division membership for free. First year members select two divisions at no charge.
Professional Member - $200.00
Must have at least ONE of the following:
1. A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nutrition, food, or a related field from an accredited institution; OR
2. Minimum of a baccalaureate degree in any field with two or more years experience in health, food, agriculture, education, communications, or nutrition related position(s) AND either an approved credential from – or membership in – a related organization (such as ASNNA, AAFCS, IFT, AND).
Applicants who do not meet the above criteria may request an exemption from the Board of Directors. Only Professional Members are eligible to hold elected office.
Professional Assisted Member - $120.00
The Professional Assisted membership is for individuals who meet the qualifications of Professional membership but make less than $45,000 USD annually.
Associate Member* - $120.00
Individuals who do not qualify for Professional membership, but have at least ONE of the following:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in any field;
2. Two or more years of experience in health, food,agriculture, education, communications, or nutrition-related position(s);
3. Associate degree from an accredited culinary, technical school, or community college;
4. Sponsorship by a current SNEB Professional Member.
* Individuals who qualify for Professional Membership may not join as an Associate Member.
Retired Member - $120.00
To qualify for retired membership, you must be at least 55 years of age, retired, and have been either a Regular or Professional Member or a Member for at least one year.
Student Member - $60.00 (download a Student Member benefits information flyer)
Individuals who are registered as full-time students OR are actively working on a degree at an accredited college or university or are enrolled in a dietetic intern program are eligible for student membership. All students must have their membership application signed by faculty member to verify student status. Student membership also entitles you to a discounted early professional rate upon graduation.
Institutional Membership Group
The Institutional Membership is open to any group of 5 members for $1,000 per year or 10 members for $2,000 per year whether industry, scientific or educational groups. The memberships can be any combination of professional, associate, or student. Dues are pro-rated throughout the year.
As a non-profit organization, the Society seeks philanthropic support and partners who understand the importance of reaching people at every stage in life to positively impact their overall nutrition and health. Organizational membership provides a unique forum for your organization to experience innovative strategies in nutrition education, as well as allow you to participate in expressing a range of views on important nutrition issues..
