E-Communicator in a new format starting in August

Starting in mid August, the e-Communicator monthly newsletter will become a bi-weekly email featuring SNEB news as well as nutrition headlines from around the world. The policy update email from ACPP will continue to arrive each Monday. The new e-Communicator will be delivered every other Thursday. Beyond Bones: Understanding the Benefits of Dairy and Overcoming Barriers to Dairy Consumption

Despite the recommendation of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans to consume 3 servings per day, dairy intake remains inadequate.  Insufficient health professional awareness of the total benefits of dairy and the misunderstanding of the consequences of dairy avoidance contribute to this problem. This webinar reviews the importance of dairy in relation to total diet quality and reduction of chronic disease, and addresses barriers and solutions to achieving adequate dairy consumption. This session is sponsored by St. Louis District Dairy Council.

2013 Annual Conference

Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior

Fall Journal Club Webinars Announced
Beginning in September, SNEB launches a second semester of the JNEB Journal Club. The Journal Club will consist of weekly webinars featuring authors from the latest issue of Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. During the webinars the authors will review and discuss their research articles and students will have an opportunity to ask questions. Each one-hour webinar will be broadcast at 1 p.m. ET and available as a recording.

The series will focus on Schools and Nutrition: Environment, Interventions and Policy. The Journal Club is planning to present webinars by the following authors. Please register to attend at http://www.sneb.org/events/journalclub.html.

Call for WIC-Related Papers
JNEB is soliciting manuscripts for a supplemental issue concerning the:
.          Impact of the new WIC food package, including
.          Factors that affect participation in WIC and retention
.          Impact of nutrition education on WIC clientele
.          Effectiveness of VENA (value enhanced nutrition assessment) on WIC participant and staff satisfaction
.          WIC and nutritional intake
.          Impact of WIC participation on clinical outcomes 

All manuscript types currently accepted by JNEB are suitable for this special supplement, including Research Articles, Research Briefs, Reports, GEMs, and New Resources for review. Please see www.jneb.org guidelines for authors for more details.
To be considered for publication, manuscripts must be submitted October 1, 2013 through the jneb.org submission process for a targeted publication date of May/June 2014. The cover letter should indicate that the submission is for this supplemental issue related to WIC.
